The Dilemma of Misplaced Needles

Your sewing workspace can get pretty busy when you’re deep into a sewing project. Sometimes, that means rummaging in drawers or sifting through random packets to find the right needle for the job. And even if you do manage to fish out the correct type—say, a ballpoint for jersey—what do you do with the universal needle you used before? It’s still got life in it, but it’s not exactly brand new either.

That’s where the Patterntrace Needle Store comes in. It’s designed to stop those little conundrums and make your sewing time more fun and efficient. No more rummaging, no more guessing—just a tidy system that keeps all your needle packs and part-used needles clearly labelled and easy to find.

Clever Design in a Compact Package

Our Needle Store box is made here in the UK from recycled plastic, ticking the box for sustainability and practicality. Inside, there are eight compartments, each capable of holding up to eight packs of standard machine needles (like Schmetz or other popular brands). You could even pop a few hand-sewing needles in there if you like having everything in one spot.

When you open the lid, you’ll notice a fuzzy dot in each compartment. This dot is the magic trick for storing part-used needles. Let’s say you swapped out a universal size 80/12 for a denim needle—just pop that universal needle into the fuzzy dot in the “Universal” compartment. Now you’ll know exactly what it is and that it’s already been used a bit, which means you’ll never accidentally treat a half-used needle as brand new again!

Customise Your Storage

What really makes this box special is how you can label each compartment to suit your needle collection. The Needle Store comes with a sticker sheet, giving you the flexibility to sort your needles by type (universal, ballpoint, microtex, etc.) or even by size if you prefer. Simply pick the stickers that match your stash, pop them onto the lid, and voilà—you’ve got a custom needle station that looks lovely on your sewing table.

Once your needles are labelled and neatly filed away, you’ll wonder why you ever did it differently. It’s such a simple idea, but it makes a world of difference in reducing needle waste and confusion. It’s also great if you like to try lots of different fabrics—no more mixing up your jersey needle with your sharp microtex!

I hope you feel inspired to streamline your needle stash and ditch the guesswork to keep track of all your machine needles in one tidy spot -  the Patterntrace Needle Store really is a brilliant solution!

Happy sewing—and may your needles always be exactly where you need them!
